Do you miss that lovely smell when your Mom would cook a nice home cooked meal for you after a long day? Or a village with wooden houses framed by palm trees, and amidts all this a lady cooking nice fresh catch from the sea. Does that aroma ever seduce your palate?????? I do miss all that. I would like to share one such recipe which I inherited from my "Dad". Miss you Dad😘
Rawasacha kalwan

Rawasacha kalwan
- Preparation time: 30 minutes
- Level: Easy
Ingredients for gravy :
- 1 medium onion coarsely chopped
- Green chillies coarsely chopped
- Green coriander coarsely chopped
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- 8-10 cloves of garlic
- 1/2" ginger
- 1 cup grated coconut
- Rawas ( 5-6 piece's )
- 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp chilli powder
- 2-3 tbsp green masala ( Please refer to my kolambi che Tikhatle recipe for green paste)
- 1 tbsp tamarind pulp
- 1 tsp cumin coriander powder(Toast and grind)
- Salt as per taste
For tempering:
- 5-6 curry leaves
- 2 cloves garlic paste
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- Oil as required
Preparation:
- Wash the fish pieces and drain the water completely.
- Apply the marnation masala to the fish. Let it rest for 20-25 minutes.
- Grind all the ingredients mentioned in gravy section to a fine paste. Add little water at a time . The masala should have a pulpy consistency .
- Heat some oil in a wok. Add all the ingredients as mentioned in tempering section . Once it starts spluttering add the gravy paste and saute it for 7-8 minutes .
- Add 1 to 2 cups of water and bring to a boil .
- Finally add the marinated fish to this gravy. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
- Garnish the gravy with chopped coriander.
- Serve it hot with steamed rice.
I will try this weekend.....I will also like to see dry recipe for fish, spicy one....
