Level: Easy
For the marinade:
- 4-6 fish fillets
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 pod of garlic
- 1 inch ginger
- 2 green chilies
- 1 cup green coriander
- ½ tsp carom seeds (ajwain/owaa)
- ½ cumin seeds
- 1½ tsp red chili powder/2 dry red chilies soaked in warm water (adjust the spice according to your preference)
- 2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
- 1 tbsp chat masala (optional)
- 1 tbsp tamarind pulp
- Salt as per taste
- 3 teaspoons lemon juice
- ½ cup rice flour
- ½ cup fine semolina (rawa)
- 1 tbsp green coriander finely chopped (optional)
- Lemon wedges for garnishing
- Mix all the batter ingredients
- Salt as per taste
- Oil to fry
Method:
- Make fine paste of all the ingredients mentioned in marinade section. Add water only if the paste is too thick.
- Apply this paste to the fish and allow it to sit for 20 minutes.
- Dip the fish fillets in the batter. Coat it well from all sides.
- Shallow fry the fish fillets on medium heat until they turn golden brown.
- Fish is ready to serve.Garnish it with lemon wedges and serve it with green chutney.
